2009, means, for the Association of Sugar Technicians in Mexico, the year in which we will consolidate our efforts to optimally comply with a commitment acquired with the International Sugar Cane Technologists Society in Durban, South Africa, of carrying out the 27th World Congress of such organization in March 2010, in our country, more specifically in the City and Port of Veracruz.

The task seems to be difficult and hard and we are thus motivated to making it right, complete and successful. We are interested in showing the world we are one of the main sugar produ-cing countries and that, in spite of the complex situation we are all currently undergoing, we are capable of encountering new ways and solutions.

We feel not only responsible but also enthusiastic about the event to be carried out, hoping it will be remembered for many years, so that MÉXICO-2010 becomes an example of brotherhood and solidarity among the sugar producers in the world, so that during such space and time, the most highly qualified sugar cane technologists mark the structural ways out for this quite important sector, which is determinant for the development of many countries.

It will be a pleasure for us to receive all of our distinguished visitors, who will converge in our country from all over the world and will be twinned by the sweetness of the juice that delights both our body and the spirit. Experiences, ideas and works will be interchanged, but friendships will also be tightened.

Mexico opens its arms and extends its hands offering its characteristic hospitality. Veracruz, a region of singular beauty, prosperous, rich and cheerful, will generously share its bonhomie.



Every sugar producer in our country, every one of its sugar mills and every factory supplier is ready and willing to open their doors and share in detail what the Mexican sugar cane agro- industry is and what it wants to be.
